What you can do in the app today

These parts work straight away and everywhere in Europe, even if your district or area has not unlocked yet.

  • My sport

Log a run, a training session or a match. The app shows you totals for the week, the month and the year. Only you can see your log.

  • Your year out there

The app prepares a “Your year out there” recap with your most interesting numbers for the year. It also includes a summary from your log, meaning your total time, kilometres and most frequent sport.

  • Map of venues, shops and events

On the map you can find more than 380,000 venues in 33 countries, more than 55,000 sports shops and public sports events.

  • Clubs and coaches

You can register a club straight away. A verified club can create training sessions for its members even before the unlock. You can find coaches once you sign in.

Meetups

Find people to do sport with

In the app you create a meetup. You choose the sport, the place and the time, and people nearby see it on the map. Anyone who is interested joins. You can also join a meetup that someone else has created. You can look for one partner or a whole group.

Meetups start once your district or area unlocks, and no district or area has unlocked yet.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you play

Choose a sport and your level. One sport is enough.

  2. See meetups nearby

The map shows you meetups near you. Join one with one tap, or create your own.

  3. You meet up

You meet up and play. After the meetup, you both confirm that you met.

  • 1-on-1 and groups

Tennis for two, football with a group. The app has 137 sports, and choosing one is enough.

  • A map of meetups

On the map you see where and when people are playing, and you join with one tap. The map shows places and meetups, never people.

  • Your partner bailed?

If a meetup is cancelled, the app offers you up to three other meetups in the same sport. If there isn't one, it saves a “Looking for a partner” request for you.

The Great Unlock of Europe

Find your district or area

The Great Unlock has been running since 1 August 2026. A district or area unlocks when 1% of its residents join the waitlist (at least 200 and no more than 3,000). Meetups there then usually go live within 3 working days. No district or area has unlocked yet.

🏆 The first district or area to unlock hosts the first Spareya Games, amateur sports games.

How Spareya keeps you safe

At meetups you meet people in person. This is what we do for your safety.

  • 18+ only

Spareya is for adults only. You enter your year of birth when you sign up.

  • Verification before your first meetup

Before their first meetup, everyone verifies once. You just look into the front camera for a moment and a check confirms that you are a real, live person. No ID is needed. We don't store the photo or the video. We only get a yes or no result. Until you have verified, you can't arrange a meetup.

  • The map never shows people

The map shows venues, clubs and meetups, not people. Your exact location is never shown anywhere.

  • Women-only meetups

You can create a meetup for women only. Only people whose profile says their gender is female can join it. Everyone sets their own gender in their profile.

  • “I want to approve who joins”

When you create a meetup, you can turn on “I want to approve who joins”. People then send you a request and you decide who to accept. A request is cancelled automatically if you don't reply within 24 hours, and no later than 2 hours before the start.

  • “Share with someone close”

With “Share with someone close” you send someone close to you a link showing where and when you will be doing sport. The link stops working 6 hours after the meetup starts.

  • Emergency contact

You can save an emergency contact in your profile. Only you can see it.

  • “I need help”

If something happened at a meetup, you tap “I need help” afterwards and the message goes straight to our team. If you are in danger, call 112.

Reporting and blocking

You can report or block anyone, in the chat or on their profile. Reports are anonymous. The other person does not find out about them. Every report is read by a person from our team. When we have dealt with it, you get a notification. If three different people report the same person, that person's account is suspended straight away until we have looked into it.

When you block someone, you no longer see each other in chats or on each other's profiles. If one of you is organising a meetup, the other is removed from it. If you are both going to someone else's meetup, the app lets you know.

Arrange your first meetup at a public sports venue where other people are around.

Who's behind Spareya?

Spareya was built by Marek, an ordinary guy from Slovakia who got tired of wanting to do sport and having no one to do it with. While working on it, he went through serious health problems. You can read the whole story on the Story page.

Spareya is people. Spareya is community.
