Cookie and Local Storage Policy

This document explains which cookies and similar technologies (in particular browser local storage) we use on the Website (spareya.eu) and in the App. It relates to the Privacy Policy.

In short

We do not use tracking, advertising or marketing cookies.
We use only necessary and functional technologies, without which the Service would not work or would lose basic convenience.
Our product analytics is cookieless and anonymised (Vercel Analytics) — it does not build a profile of you or identify you.
Because we do not use non-essential (in particular tracking) cookies, we do not show a cookie banner and do not ask for cookie consent. Should we introduce technologies requiring consent in the future, we will ask for it in advance.

What we use specifically

1. Necessary (the Service will not work without them)

Sign-in and session (sb-…-auth-token, App) — after you sign in, the browser or the App keeps your sign-in session (via the provider Supabase Auth) so that you do not have to enter your password on every page. It remains until you sign out.
Password reset (spareya-recovery, App, session storage) — during a password reset, the App remembers that you arrived from a password-change link. It disappears when you close the window.
Notification token (spareya.pushToken, App on your phone) — if you have allowed notifications, the App remembers the device token so that it can disconnect it when you turn notifications off.
Reload after an update (sy:preload-reload-at, Website, session storage) — the time of the last automatic page reload after a new version is released, so that the page does not keep reloading. It disappears when you close the window.
Security / anti-bot — the Cloudflare Turnstile tool may store necessary technical data to confirm that you are not an automated bot. Turnstile is deployed without tracking cookies.

2. Functional (they improve your experience) We store small items in the local storage of the browser or the App so that the Service remembers your settings:

the interface language (spareya-lang, Website and App),
your invite code, if you arrived through a friend's link (spareya-wl-ref on the Website, spareya-ref in the App); it is deleted once used,
the selected map layer (spareya-map-layer, App),
dismissed one-time prompts and banners — the preview notice (spareya-prelaunch), the prompt to turn on notifications (spareya_notif_prompt_dismissed), the prompt to rate the App in the store (spareya-store-prompted), whether the banner showing the progress of a district or area is expanded (spareya-zone-band…),
the link you opened the App with (spareya-deep-…, e.g. the "Log your sport" shortcut) until it is processed; it is then deleted.

These items stay on your device, are not sent to us and serve only the functioning and convenience of the Service.

3. Analytics (cookieless) To improve the Service we use Vercel Analytics in a cookieless mode and without personal identifiers — only aggregated traffic is measured.

How to manage this

You can delete local storage and cookies at any time in your browser or device settings. Deleting necessary items may sign you out of the Service or make it forget your settings.
