Deleting your Spareya data
You can delete your account — or just parts of your data — yourself at any time, directly in the app. You don't need to ask anyone, and you don't need to give a reason.
You have two options:
- Delete some of your data — your account stays, only what you pick disappears.
- Delete your whole account — the account and its data are gone.
Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
Don't want to delete your whole account, but want something gone from it? You don't have to lose everything.
- Open the Spareya app and sign in.
- Tap Profile in the bottom menu.
- Open Account settings.
- Tap Delete some of your data.
- Each item shows how much there is. Pick what you want and confirm.
You can choose:
| What you delete | What exactly happens |
|---|---|
| My chat messages | The contents of your messages disappear. All that stays in the conversation is a note saying “Message deleted” — so your partner doesn't lose the thread. |
| My meetup photos | We delete the photos you uploaded (files in storage included). We also withdraw your consent to photos you appear in that someone else uploaded — those will never be published. |
| Meetups that never happened | Old meetups that nobody confirmed took place, and "looking for a partner" requests that have expired, disappear from your history. |
| Optional profile details | We delete your bio, gender and nationality. |
Deletion is immediate and permanent — you get confirmation right away in the app, you don't have to contact anyone and nothing is queued.
What we have to keep even with partial deletion
We'd rather be upfront than have you find out afterwards:
- Messages the system has automatically flagged for review, and messages tied to an open report. They are evidence for moderation (Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR). Flagged messages disappear after 365 days at the latest, and messages tied to a report once the case is resolved.
- Confirmed meetups. They are a shared record of both participants and the basis of the reliability indicator. If they could be deleted, anyone could scrub their history down to successes only, and their partner would lose their own confirmation.
- Nickname, year of birth, home district or area and sports. The account doesn't work without them — those go only when you delete the whole account.
- A photo already published on social media we can delete from Spareya, but we cannot pull it back from other people's profiles that saved it in the meantime. Write to support@spareya.eu and we'll do what we can.
Once you delete your gender you can no longer join women-only or men-only meetups — you can always add it back.
Deleting your whole account
How to do it in the app
- Open the Spareya app and sign in.
- Tap Profile in the bottom menu.
- Open Account settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm in the "Delete your account?" dialog.
That's it. Your account and data are gone immediately.
What gets deleted
Deletion is immediate and permanent. The following are deleted:
- your login account (email and password),
- your profile — nickname, sports, home (municipality, district or area), avatar, profile photo, availability, emergency contact,
- your My sport log with all its entries,
- your verification records,
- your coach profile and the reviews you wrote,
- meetups you created (upcoming ones are cancelled first and the participants are notified),
- your chat messages,
- ratings — both the ones you gave and the ones you received,
- reports that concern you,
- club memberships, "looking for a partner" requests, sports venue suggestions, problem reports, invitations, notifications,
- sign-ups tied to your email — waitlist, club interest, Wall of Fame,
- files you uploaded (photos) — they disappear from storage within a few minutes.
Your data disappears from our encrypted database backups within 30 days at the latest.
What is not deleted
- Your club survives. If you were the only admin of a club, admin rights automatically pass to the longest-standing active member. The club and its other members stay.
- Data that is no longer linked to you as a person — for example anonymous aggregate counts or an entry in a club's attendance record that is no longer linked to you.
Want to download your data first?
The app also lets you export your data. Do it before deleting — once deleted, nothing can be restored.
Can't access the app?
Email us at support@spareya.eu from the address you signed up with and we'll delete the account for you — or just the part of your data you choose. We handle requests within one month at the latest, usually much sooner. We may ask for additional information to verify it's really you.
